Does gonorrhoea affect a smear test?

Diagnosed last week and my cervical screening is due next month. Do I move it?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Ring and ask, because inflammation can affect sample quality and some services prefer to wait until an infection has been treated and settled.

It is a scheduling question rather than a clinical crisis. What you should not do is cancel and forget.

The two are also usually different appointments in different parts of the system, so the sexual health clinic may not know your screening is due unless you say so.

Mine told me to come as planned and the sample was fine. Worth asking rather than assuming either answer.
