stdforum.net is a forum where people discuss sexually transmitted infections. What members write here is sensitive by definition, so this policy is written to be specific about what is collected, what is public, and what is not.

Post under a pseudonym
Choose a username that is not your real name, does not appear on your other accounts, and cannot be traced back to you. We do not ask for your real name and you should not provide it. Do not post photographs of your face, your workplace, your street, or anything else that identifies you or a partner.
Your username, your avatar, and everything you post in a topic or reply is public and can be read by anyone, including people who are not registered.
What we collect
- Account: username and email address. The email address is never displayed publicly and is used only for password resets and, if you enable them, notification emails.
- Content: the topics, replies and profile text you write, with their timestamps.
- Technical: your IP address and browser user agent are recorded by the server and by the forum software when you post. They are used to block spam and abuse.
- Cookies: a login session cookie when you sign in, and a cookie remembering that you dismissed notices. [ADD ANALYTICS/ADS COOKIES HERE IF USED]
What we deliberately do not do
- We do not use Gravatar. Avatars are generated on this server, so no request carrying a hash of your email address is sent to a third party when someone views your posts.
- Member profiles, author archives and search pages are marked noindex, so search engines are told not to list them. Individual topics you post in are public and can be indexed.
- The public member list endpoints are closed to visitors who are not logged in.
- The site sends no referrer information to external websites, so clicking a link from here does not tell the destination that you came from stdforum.net.
- We do not ask for, and do not want, your date of birth, gender or location. Those profile fields are switched off.
Who else sees your data
