Gonorrhea

Do I retest every site or only the positive one?

Positive at two sites, treated. Told to come back. Unclear whether everything gets repeated.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

A test of cure is generally focused on sites that were positive, and the throat in particular is where it is most strongly recommended because cure rates there are lower than at genital sites.

The timing matters. Too early and the test can detect remnant material rather than live infection, so go on the date they give you.

Separately from test of cure, a broader retest a few months on is often suggested, and that one is about reinfection rather than about whether the treatment worked.

Write the two appointments down with what each is for. I confused them and turned up at the wrong interval for the wrong reason.
