Gonorrhea

Only oral sex. Do I need testing?

Nothing else happened. I assumed a screen was unnecessary and now I am not sure.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Yes, and specifically ask for a throat swab. Gonorrhoea at the throat is one of the infections most reliably acquired through oral sex and it is almost always symptomless.

A urine sample will tell you nothing about it.

Say the words oral sex at the appointment. If you do not, the throat swab does not happen, and this is the single most repeated lesson on this board.

Throat infections also matter beyond you. They are thought to play a role in resistance developing, because the throat is where this organism meets other bacteria and swaps genetic material.
