Ongoing discomfort months after treatment

Treated in the spring, test of cure negative, and I still get a vague ache and occasional discomfort. Everyone tells me it is cured and I believe them but something is still going on.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Persisting symptoms after a documented cure are recognised and they are usually not the original organism. Inflammation can outlast the infection, and chronic pelvic or testicular pain syndromes are real diagnoses in their own right.

Being told it is cured and having ongoing symptoms are not in conflict.

Ask to be assessed for that specifically rather than just retested for the same infection repeatedly. Repeat negative tests answer one question and leave the actual one open.

This took me a long time and several appointments to get taken seriously. Keep a short written record of symptoms and dates. It changes how the conversation goes.
