Twice yearly injection for prevention. Who is it for?

Read that a twice yearly injectable prevention option was approved. Daily tablets have not worked well for me. Is this something I could realistically get?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

It was approved in the United States in mid 2025 and the trial results were striking, essentially no infections in one of the two studies.

Whether you can get it is a separate question from whether it exists. Approval, licensing in your country, and whether anyone will pay for it are three different hurdles, and the list price in the US was very high at launch.

Ask your clinic what long acting options they actually offer rather than which ones exist somewhere. Some services have the two monthly injectable but not the six monthly one, and provision has been uneven.

Worth saying clearly that daily tablets have not worked for you. That is exactly the situation long acting options were designed for and it changes the conversation from preference to clinical need.
