Anal HPV in women

Everything I read about anal HPV is aimed at men who have sex with men. Does it apply to me at all?

It does. Anal HPV in women is common, and women with a history of high grade cervical or vulvar disease are recognised as being at increased risk of anal disease.

Recent screening guidance from specialist societies includes groups beyond men who have sex with men for exactly this reason.

Availability lags the guidance considerably. Specialist examination services are scarce in a lot of places, so asking what is actually accessible near you is the practical step.

If you have had high grade cervical disease, say so explicitly when you ask. It is the detail that moves you from a general question into a recognised risk group.
