Colposcopy result terminology. I do not understand my letter

Letter is full of abbreviations and grades. I understand roughly that it is not cancer and not much else.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The grading systems describe how much of the thickness of the surface layer shows abnormal cells, and they translate roughly into low grade and high grade categories.

Low grade changes very often resolve on their own. High grade changes are the ones usually treated, because they are the ones with meaningful risk of progression if left.

Ring the colposcopy clinic and ask them to translate your specific letter. They do this daily and they will not mind. I did and it took four minutes.

What matters most in that letter is what they are recommending next and when. The grading explains why, but the date is the actionable part.
