Pubic lice

Treated a week ago and eggs are still attached

Nothing moving that I can see, but there are still small pale things stuck to the hairs. Has the treatment failed?

Probably not. Empty egg cases remain glued to the hair after hatching or after treatment and they do not fall off on their own. They can sit there for a long time.

The question is whether they contain anything, which is not something you can tell by looking at a distance.

A fine comb removes them and that is mostly a reassurance exercise rather than a treatment. It does help with the checking anxiety though.

What matters is whether you find anything alive after the treatment interval you were given. Live lice after correctly completed treatment is the sign of failure, not the presence of shells.
