Pubic lice

Chemist product or clinic prescription?

Can buy something today or wait a week for an appointment. Is the shop version inferior?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The over the counter products are the same first line treatments that a clinic would recommend for a straightforward case. They are not a lesser version.

What the clinic adds is confirming it is actually lice, and screening for everything else.

Reasonable approach is to do both. Treat now with the shop product, keep the appointment for the screen. Waiting a week while itching serves nobody.

Ask the pharmacist for the appropriate product rather than choosing off the shelf. Not everything in that section is intended for this area.
