Negative six months ago and positive now

Routine test in the spring was clear. Positive now. Trying to make sense of the window.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

That actually helps you rather than hurting you. A documented negative narrows the acquisition window to the period between the two tests, which makes staging easier and usually means early infection.

Early infection is treated with a shorter course than late or unknown duration.

Make sure the clinic has the earlier result. If it was done elsewhere they may not, and without it you default to unknown duration and a longer course.

It also tightens the notification list to that window rather than a year or more. One negative result doing a lot of useful work.
