How long does follow up go on for?

Bloods at three months, six months, twelve months. Is there an end to this?

Usually yes. Follow up typically continues until the titre has fallen appropriately and stabilised, commonly over a year or two depending on stage and on how the numbers behave.

Some people end up with a persistently low level positive that never fully resolves, and that is recognised and managed rather than treated indefinitely.

Follow up is longer if you also have HIV, and longer for later stage infection. So the schedule is individual rather than a single fixed programme.

Ask at each appointment what the plan is and what result would end it. Having a defined finish line made the year much easier for me than open ended attendance.
