Syphilis

Cannot stop worrying about my brain

Treated, titre falling, everything going well. I have read about neurosyphilis and now I interpret every headache as evidence.

Nervous system involvement does happen and it is why symptoms like visual change, hearing change and neurological signs are asked about. It is not why every headache is.

A falling titre after treatment is the objective evidence that treatment is working, and it is considerably better information than any symptom you can monitor at home.

Raise the specific fear at your next appointment rather than carrying it. Mine walked me through what they would look for and why they were not concerned, and it ended the loop almost immediately.

Health anxiety after a diagnosis like this is extremely common and it responds to support rather than to more reading. Ask whether the service can refer you. It is a normal thing to need.
