Breastfeeding and the treatment

Diagnosed while breastfeeding. Conflicting advice about whether I need to interrupt feeding.

Ask a pharmacist or your clinic rather than working from leaflets, because the advice differs between the drugs in this family and between the single dose and multi dose approaches.

Some guidance historically suggested interrupting feeding for a period after a large single dose, which is a large part of where the conflicting advice you are finding comes from.

Tell whoever prescribes that you are breastfeeding before the prescription is written rather than after. It may change which of the options they choose.

Do not skip treatment over this. There is a workable answer and stopping feeding permanently is not it.
