Positive chlamydia result and I had no symptoms at all

Tested as part of a routine screen with no symptoms whatsoever, and it came back positive. I keep going back over the last few months trying to work out when, and I genuinely cannot tell.

Is it normal to have absolutely nothing? I feel like I should have noticed something.

Completely normal. It’s one of the reasons routine screening exists at all. A lot of people carry it with nothing to notice, which is exactly why it spreads.

You didn’t miss a sign. There wasn’t one to miss.

Same for me, found on a screen before a coil fitting. No symptoms then, none during, none after treatment.

Two things my clinic pushed and I’d pass on: make sure any current partner gets treated at the same time, and take the retest they offer a few months later. That second one isn’t about whether treatment worked, it’s about picking up reinfection from an untreated partner.

The other half of having no symptoms is that you cannot date it, and people torture themselves trying.

Because it can sit there quietly for a long time, a positive result tells you that you have it, not when you got it. It is not evidence about a particular person or a particular week, and using it that way has ended relationships that did not need to end.

Treat it, tell the partners your clinic asks you to tell, take the retest. That is the whole list.
