Can we keep passing it back and forth if we were both treated?

We were both treated, same week, same prescription. Now I am reading about couples reinfecting each other in a loop and I cannot work out whether that is possible if we were genuinely both treated.

If you were both treated properly and you both waited the abstinence period your clinic gave you before having sex again, you are not passing it back and forth. There is nothing left to pass.

The loop people describe almost always has one of two causes: one partner did not finish the course, or you resumed sex too early. That gap is where most of these stories actually happen.

Ask each other the boring specific questions rather than the general one. Did you finish every dose. What day did the clinic say you could have sex again. Did you both wait that long.

We assumed we had both done it right and it turned out we had counted the days differently.

Also worth remembering that a positive test at three months does not automatically mean someone cheated. It usually means the treatment window was not respected on one side. Have that conversation before the other one.
