How likely is recurrence after treatment, honestly?

About to start treatment and I would rather know the real number now than be blindsided later. Everything I read says recurrence is common without saying how common.

Roughly a third of people get at least one recurrence, whichever treatment is used, and that figure is similar whether the warts cleared on their own or were treated.

The timing is the part nobody prepares you for: recurrences typically show up in the first few months rather than years later. In the study data the median was around three to four months.

Knowing the timing in advance genuinely helps. I spent the first two months treating each new one as proof the treatment had failed, when it was just the expected pattern.

Treatment clears what is visible. The virus is still in the surrounding skin for a while afterwards, and that is what produces the next one.

Ask your clinician up front how long they would expect to keep going before rethinking the approach. Having a number to hold onto made the repeat appointments much easier to face.
