Does smoking make recurrence more likely?

Read in passing that smokers have a harder time with warts. True, or one of those things that gets said about everything?

There is a genuine association in the literature between smoking and both persistence of HPV and recurrence of warts. It is not the only factor and stopping is not a treatment, but it is one of the few things on the list you can actually act on.

I stopped during my treatment run for unrelated reasons and cannot tell you whether it helped. It did make the appointments feel less like something being done to me.

Worth raising with your clinician rather than treating as settled. The honest summary is that it probably does not help, not that quitting will clear them.
