Home test came back reactive. What happens now?

Took a home test on impulse and it showed reactive. I have not told anyone. I do not know whether this is a result or not.

Please do not sit with this alone over a weekend. Services deal with exactly this every week and they will not make you wait weeks for the confirmatory result.

A reactive result on a screening test is not a diagnosis. It means the test picked something up and it now needs a confirmatory test at a clinic. Screening tests are deliberately built to over call rather than miss, so false reactives happen.

Take it to a sexual health service today or tomorrow. Tell them it was a home test and reactive, and they will prioritise you.

And if it is confirmed, the threads on this forum from people who have been through that first month are worth reading. Modern treatment changed what this diagnosis means, and the first weeks are the hardest part by a distance.
