Treatment failed twice. Is resistance a thing?

Two rounds of the same over the counter treatment, applied properly, and I am still finding live ones. Do these things stop working?

Reduced effectiveness of some topical treatments is documented, so it is a fair question rather than a paranoid one. But before concluding that, the far more common explanations are worth ruling out.

Was every partner and household member treated at the same time, was the second application at the interval on the instructions, and did the product stay on for the full time?

Mine was the timing. I did the second application when I remembered rather than when the box said, which meant the newly hatched ones got a clear run.

If you have genuinely done all of that, stop buying boxes and go in. There are other options a clinician can prescribe, and getting the right one is faster than a third round of the same thing.
