Partner tested negative, do I still need testing?

He got a full screen last month, all clear. We are exclusive. Feels like me getting tested is duplicating the same information.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

It is not duplicate information, because his result only describes his history up to the point he tested, and only for the sites he sampled.

It also says nothing about anything you might have been carrying beforehand, which for several of these infections could be years without a symptom.

Worth asking what his screen actually covered too. A negative on four infections from a urine sample is often what people mean by a full screen, and it is not the same thing.

Testing is not an accusation and it is not a test of the relationship. It is a baseline. Both of you having one is a much better place to start from than one of you assuming.
