Why did they ask about what kind of sex I have?

Found the intake questions intrusive and I said less than I should have. Now I am wondering whether that affected what they tested.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

It almost certainly did, and that is the honest answer. The questions decide which sites get sampled. If oral or anal sex was not mentioned, those swabs were probably not taken.

It is not curiosity. A throat infection is invisible to a urine sample and there is no way around that.

I did the same thing at my first appointment and went back a fortnight later to say I had left something out. Nobody reacted at all. They deal with it every day.

If saying it out loud is the barrier, some services have a form or a tick sheet instead. Ask whether there is a written version. It is a much easier way to be accurate.
