Trans and dreading the intake form

I need testing and I keep not booking it because of the paperwork and the conversation that follows. Has anyone found a way through this that does not involve explaining myself four times?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Two things helped me. First, ring ahead and ask whether the service has a clinician who regularly sees trans patients, because many do and it is not always advertised. Second, ask if you can write the relevant details down rather than say them.

The clinical part of this is simpler than the social part: what matters is which anatomy you have and which sites need sampling, and that can be a single sentence.

Some services let you do the sampling yourself, which removes most of the examination and most of the conversation. Worth asking specifically.

If a service handles it badly, that is worth knowing and worth leaving. There are places that get this right. Please do not let a bad first attempt become a reason to stop testing altogether.
