Chlamydia

Does it affect future pregnancy even if it was treated?

Diagnosed and treated last month. I am not trying for a baby yet but I want to know whether I have damaged something permanently.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The risk that gets talked about comes from infection that sits untreated for a long time and ascends, causing inflammation and scarring. Treated infection is a different situation.

A single episode found and treated is not something most clinicians would expect to affect fertility.

What matters more than the one episode is what happens next. Repeat infections are where the risk accumulates, which is the real argument for the three month retest and for partners being treated.

If you are worried specifically, say so at a future appointment rather than carrying it silently for years. There are questions a clinician can ask that narrow this down a lot, and most people find the answer more reassuring than the internet.
