Rectal chlamydia and I have never had anal sex

Positive rectal swab, negative everywhere else, and I genuinely have not had anal sex. I feel like I am being disbelieved before I even say anything.

You are not being disbelieved by anyone who knows the literature. Rectal chlamydia in women without anal sex is well documented and it is thought to happen through spread from the genital tract rather than through anal sex.

It turns up often enough that some services now sample the site routinely in women rather than only on history.

It is also one of the reasons the treatment recommendation shifted towards the seven day course. A single dose is noticeably less reliable at that site, which mattered once people started actually looking there.

Say it plainly to the clinician if the assumption is made out loud. Most will simply nod, because they already know. If one does not, that is a them problem rather than a you problem.
