What does undetectable actually require of me day to day?

Newly on treatment. U equals U keeps being mentioned. What am I actually meant to be doing to hold onto it?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Take the medication as prescribed and attend the monitoring appointments. That is genuinely most of it.

Undetectable is not a state you maintain by effort in any other sense. It is the result of the drug keeping the virus suppressed, confirmed by blood tests at intervals your clinic sets.

The part people underestimate is the appointments rather than the tablets. Being undetectable and having documented evidence that you are undetectable are not the same thing, and the second one is what the monitoring is for.

It usually takes some months from starting treatment to being reliably undetectable, so do not date the U equals U part from your first tablet. Your clinic will tell you when you are there.
