Pubic lice

Blue grey marks on my skin

Small slate coloured marks on my thighs and lower abdomen. They do not itch and they were not there before this started.

That is a recognised finding with this infestation and it has a name in the literature. The marks are a reaction at bite sites and they are harmless.

They can persist for weeks to months after successful treatment, which catches people out because they look like something is still happening.

Do mention them if you are being assessed, mainly because they help confirm the diagnosis rather than because they need anything doing.

Mine took about two months to fade completely. Slightly unnerving to look at in the meantime and entirely uneventful in the end.
