Chlamydia

Can I have got this from oral sex?

The only thing in the relevant window was oral. I had assumed that was essentially safe for chlamydia.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

It is possible in both directions, though less common than genital to genital transmission. Throat infections exist and are usually completely silent, which is exactly why they go unnoticed.

Whether the throat is sampled at all depends on whether you mentioned oral sex at the appointment.

This is the gap that keeps appearing here. People report only penetrative sex, get a urine test, and the throat is never looked at by anyone.

If you have a partner in the picture, they may need their throat swabbed rather than just a urine sample. Worth saying so explicitly when they book.
