Can testing too early give me false reassurance?

I tested four days after the thing I was worried about. Everything negative. Part of me knows that is too soon and part of me wants to accept it and move on.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The part of you that knows it is too soon is right. Four days is inside the window for essentially everything on a standard screen. What you have is a picture of where you stood before that night.

That is still worth having. It is just not the answer to the question you were asking.

Book the follow up now while you are still motivated. The relief of an early negative is exactly what stops people coming back, and then they find out months later.

Ask the clinic for the specific dates to retest on. Different infections have different windows and trying to hold all of them in your head is how people end up retesting for the wrong thing.
