Pubic lice

Could I have got them from a hotel bed?

Trying to account for it without an obvious source. Is bedding a realistic route?

Possible in principle but uncommon in practice. They do not survive long away from a body, and transmission is overwhelmingly through close body contact.

Shared bedding immediately after an infested person is the scenario usually cited, and hotel linen is generally laundered hot between guests.

I would resist building a theory to avoid an awkward conversation, though. Sexual contact is by far the most likely route and partner notification is the thing that actually stops a repeat.

Bed bugs are what people usually mean when they blame a hotel, and those are a completely different creature with a completely different response. Worth ruling out if the bites are on parts of you that are not the pubic area.
