Diagnosed in pregnancy and terrified

Routine antenatal bloods came back positive. I have an appointment but the wait is unbearable.

This is exactly why that test is in the routine antenatal panel. Finding it in pregnancy and treating it is the outcome the screening exists to produce, and treatment during pregnancy is well established.

The one thing that matters is not delaying. Take the appointment they give you, and if it feels far away, say you are pregnant when you ring and ask whether it can be sooner.

They will also want to test and treat your partner, and they will follow up your bloods repeatedly through the pregnancy rather than treating and forgetting.

If they mention the reaction that can follow the first dose, that is a known thing and in pregnancy they will tell you specifically when to make contact. Not a reason to avoid treatment, a reason to know the plan.
