HPV

Do I tell a new partner I have HPV?

I have a persistent high risk type. No warts, no symptoms. Unsure whether this is a disclosure situation.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

People land in different places on this and both are defensible. The arguments against a formal disclosure: there is no test for him, no treatment, and most sexually active adults acquire HPV at some point.

The argument for mentioning it: it is your health information and some people would rather know.

What I did was mention it lightly in the context of talking about screening and vaccination rather than as an announcement. It landed completely differently from the conversation I had rehearsed.

If you do raise it, the useful things to hand over are that vaccination is worth asking about and that persistent symptoms should be looked at. Those are actionable, unlike the fact itself.
