Trichomoniasis

Does it affect fertility?

Diagnosed and now reading things that have frightened me about long term effects.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The clear fertility associations are with chlamydia and gonorrhoea, through tubal damage. Trichomoniasis is not in the same category.

It is associated with pregnancy complications and with increased susceptibility to HIV, which are the two associations worth knowing, and both are reasons to treat it.

Some studies have looked at inflammation of the reproductive tract with trich, but it is not established as a cause of infertility the way the bacterial infections are.

Treated trich is a resolved problem. The worry threads that get written at two in the morning are rarely about the infection people actually have.
