How long have I had this? We are long term

Together six years, both of us faithful as far as I know, and I have just been diagnosed. Where does that leave us?

Trichomoniasis can persist for a long time without symptoms, particularly in men, where it is often completely silent and frequently clears on its own but not always.

So an infection surfacing now can easily predate the relationship. There is no test that dates it.

It is also one of the least tested for infections. It is not in the standard screen in a lot of services, so neither of you would have been checked for it unless you had symptoms.

Both treated, both abstain until the course is finished, then move on. I have watched this exact question do more damage than the infection.
