HPV and fertility treatment

Starting IVF and had a positive HPV result last year. Does one affect the other?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

HPV infection itself is not an obstacle to fertility treatment and does not affect fertility in the way the bacterial infections can.

Where it can matter is if you have had, or need, treatment to the cervix, because excisional procedures are associated with some obstetric risks later. That is a conversation worth having in advance.

Tell the fertility clinic your full screening history including any procedures. They will factor it in and it is much easier to raise now than at twenty weeks.

Make sure screening does not fall off the calendar during treatment. It is very easy for a year of fertility appointments to swallow a routine recall letter.
