Insurance, employment and disclosure

Trying to work out where I actually have to disclose and where I am simply worried. Job applications, travel insurance, mortgages.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

This is heavily country specific and the answers differ by an enormous margin, so general advice here is close to useless.

What is fairly consistent: employment discrimination protections exist in many places, insurance is a contractual question where non disclosure can void a policy, and the two are governed by completely different rules.

HIV organisations in most countries publish specific guidance on exactly this and often run advice lines. That is the right source, not a forum and not a general employment website.

Ask your clinic whether they have a social worker or an advisor. Mine did and that appointment answered more in an hour than months of searching.
