Is reinfection common?

Second time this year. Starting to wonder whether something is wrong with me rather than with my luck.

Reinfection is common and there is no lasting immunity after an episode, so having had it gives you no protection against having it again.

Nothing is wrong with you. The usual explanations are an untreated partner, going back to sex too early, or a new exposure.

Worth a proper conversation about prevention rather than just treatment this time. Depending on your situation and where you are, doxycycline after sex is offered to some people specifically to reduce repeat bacterial infections.

And ask whether every relevant site is being tested each time. Repeat positives at one site while another is never sampled is a pattern that shows up here.
