Trichomoniasis

Is trich even in a standard screen?

Had several screens over the years and never been tested for this. Was that an omission?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Probably not an omission, more a policy difference. Trichomoniasis is included routinely in some services and only tested on symptoms or on request in others.

It varies with local prevalence and with what the service is funded to run.

Testing method matters too. The older microscopy method missed a lot of cases, and the newer molecular tests find considerably more. Some of the variation between services is really about which test they use.

If you have symptoms, say so and ask for it specifically. That is the situation where it will be tested for essentially anywhere.
