Months of symptoms, three rounds of thrush treatment that did nothing, and it turned out to be trichomoniasis. I’m relieved to have an answer and quietly furious about how long it took.

Is this common? I had genuinely never heard of it before the diagnosis.

Member experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Very common, both the delay and the not having heard of it. It gets mistaken for thrush or bacterial vaginosis constantly because the symptoms overlap, and it isn’t always included in a standard screen unless it’s specifically looked for.

You’re not unusual and you weren’t being ignored. It’s a genuinely easy one to miss.

Same path, four months. The thing that finally worked was saying plainly that repeated thrush treatment hadn’t changed anything and asking what else it could be. That sentence got a different test ordered.
