Mouth ulcer that will not heal

Single ulcer at the edge of my tongue for about five weeks. Painless. I only started worrying after reading here.

Five weeks and painless is worth getting looked at, and the reading you have done is pointing in a reasonable direction. Oral chancres exist and they are painless and persistent.

There are also other causes of a persistent painless oral lesion that need excluding, and that is the stronger reason to go.

A dentist is a legitimate route for this and often the fastest appointment. Tell them it has been there five weeks.

If you have any risk history, a blood test costs nothing and rules it in or out quickly. Much simpler than waiting to see whether it changes.
