On doxycycline and I burn in about ten minutes

Started the course and the leaflet mentions sun sensitivity. I work outdoors. Is this a mild warning or a real one?

I got caught out on day three. Nothing dramatic, but a burn on my forearms from an hour outside that would normally have done nothing at all. Worth planning around rather than finding out.

It is a real one. Photosensitivity with this drug is well known and people describe burning far faster than they expect, sometimes through light cloud.

Cover up, use a high factor sunscreen, and take the hottest part of the day seriously for the week. It is not a reason to stop the course.

If your work genuinely makes it impossible, ring the clinic rather than abandoning treatment. There are other options and they would much rather adjust than have you stop halfway.
