Partner notification, is it genuinely anonymous?

Clinic offered to contact people for me. I want to do it but I am struggling to believe the person on the other end will not work out it was me.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

The service is designed to be anonymous and the staff take that seriously. What they send says someone you have been in contact with has tested positive for something, please come and get tested. It does not name you.

Whether the person can guess is a separate matter, and honestly if you have had one partner in the relevant window they probably can. That is not the clinic failing, it is arithmetic again.

I used it for two people and told a third myself. The service was the easier route for the two I did not want to speak to, and I do not regret using it.

The alternative is worth weighing honestly. Somebody untreated is somebody who stays untreated, passes it on, and may end up with something harder to fix. A slightly awkward guess is a small cost against that.
