Gonorrhea

Positive throat swab and my partner is negative everywhere

I have throat gonorrhoea. He has been tested at every site and is negative. One of us is confused and I think it might be both of us.

A negative in a partner is not unusual. Transmission is not guaranteed per act, and it is also possible he was tested at the wrong moment or that a swab missed an infection that was present.

In most places he would still be offered treatment as a contact, regardless of his negative result.

Check his throat was actually swabbed. Every site is a phrase people use loosely and the throat is the one most often skipped when nobody asks for it.

And it does not establish a direction or a timeline. Throat infection is silent and can persist, so there is no forensic conclusion to draw from these two results.
