    Treated in the spring, retested last week as advised, positive again. I have been with the same person the whole time and now I don’t know what to think.

    Does this mean the treatment failed or does it mean something else?

Member experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

    The most common explanation by a distance is that a partner wasn’t treated at the same time, so you cleared it and then got it back from them. Treatment failure exists but it’s much rarer.

    Worth asking directly whether your partner completed treatment rather than just started it, and whether you both waited the period the clinic told you to wait before having sex again. That gap catches a lot of people out.

    This happened to us and it was exactly that. He was given treatment, felt fine after two days, and we didn’t wait as long as we’d been told. Round two, both treated properly, clear ever since.

    You were both right. He never actually picked up the prescription. We have talked. Retesting together this time.
