Still had symptoms a week after the injection

Treated eight days ago and there’s still discharge, less than before but definitely there. I don’t know whether to wait it out or go back.

Go back. Not to panic, but because there are a few different explanations and they need different responses: irritation that’s still settling, a second infection that was never treated because it wasn’t tested for, or reinfection from an untreated partner.

Persistent symptoms after treatment is one of the situations where clinics actually want to see you again. It isn’t a nuisance visit.

Mine turned out to be a second infection alongside it that the first round didn’t cover. Cleared once that was treated too. Please do go back rather than waiting.

Adding one explanation the others did not cover: irritation and inflammation in the urethra can carry on for a while after the infection itself is dealt with, so persistent discomfort is not automatically persistent infection.

That is not a reason to sit at home with it. It is a reason to go back and let them work out which of the possibilities it is, because the answers are genuinely different. Whatever you do, do not take leftover antibiotics from a previous course to see if it helps.
