Surgical removal, what is recovery like?

Topical treatments have failed twice. Surgery has been raised. I would like to hear from someone who has actually had it.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Had it for a cluster that would not shift. Done under local anaesthetic, the procedure itself was quick, and the sore period afterwards was about a fortnight with the first few days being the worst.

The advantage was clearing everything in one go rather than another three months of creams.

Ask about the recurrence rate for your specific situation. Physical removal clears what is visible but it does not remove the virus from the surrounding skin, so recurrence is still possible.

Plan for the recovery honestly: loose clothing, time off anything physical, and no sex for the period they specify. People underestimate the second week.
