Trichomoniasis

Trich found during pregnancy

Picked up on testing while pregnant. Reading has thrown up all sorts of things about pregnancy outcomes and I would like something calmer.

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

It is associated with some adverse outcomes in pregnancy, which is why it gets treated rather than watched. Association is not the same as it happening to you.

Treatment in pregnancy is a conversation with your maternity team rather than something to sort out at a walk in clinic, so tell them and let them plan it.

Your partner needs treating at the same time regardless. Reinfection during pregnancy is the avoidable version of this problem.

Ask about retesting after treatment as well. Reinfection rates are high enough for that to be routine, and in pregnancy nobody wants to find out late.
