We had sex before his treatment finished

Both treated but the timing overlapped badly. Have we undone the whole thing?

Possibly, and it is worth assuming so rather than hoping. Reinfection between partners during the treatment window is the single most common reason this comes back.

Ring the clinic, explain the timeline honestly, and ask whether you both need retreating and when to retest.

The standard advice is no sex until both of you have finished treatment and symptoms have resolved. It sounds fussy and this is exactly why it exists.

Do not feel bad about it. It happens constantly and the clinic will not be surprised. Just do not quietly wait to see if symptoms return.
