What are the symptoms in men?

My partner has been diagnosed. I have nothing at all. Is there something I should be looking for?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Most men have no symptoms at all, which is why it is so often carried and passed on unknowingly.

When there are symptoms they are usually mild: irritation inside the penis, discomfort passing urine or after ejaculation, occasionally a thin discharge.

The absence of symptoms is not a reason to skip treatment. You would be treated as a contact regardless, and that is the standard approach.

Ask about testing as well as treatment. Testing in men is less reliable, which is partly why contacts are treated on the basis of exposure rather than waiting for a result.
