When does cervical screening stop?

Approaching the age where I think screening stops, and I have had HPV detected in the past. Does that change when I can stop?

The stopping age and the criteria vary by country, so your own programme is the authority here rather than anything you read from elsewhere.

What is fairly consistent: stopping usually depends on having a record of recent normal results, not simply on reaching a birthday. A history of HPV or abnormal results can mean continuing longer.

Ask them directly and get the answer written down. Mine told me the specific condition I needed to meet and by when, which was much more useful than the general leaflet.

Do not assume being past menopause means past risk. That assumption is the reason a lot of people stop attending early.
